Overview

What the SSC CHSL cut-off means

CHSL has two kinds of cut-off. The Tier 1 cut-off is the mark you must reach to be shortlisted for Tier 2. The final cut-off works post by post: for each post and category, SSC publishes the marks of the last candidate selected, and those marks come from Tier 2 only. Both are published with the results on ssc.gov.in.

CHSL 2025 Tier 1 cut-off (LDC/JSA)

CHSL 2026 Tier 1 hasn’t been held yet, so its cut-off doesn’t exist. The most recent official figures are from CHSL 2025, whose Tier 1 was held from 12 to 30 November 2025. Below are the cut-offs for LDC / JSA / Clerk-cum-Typist (normalized marks out of 200), with the number of candidates shortlisted for Tier 2 in each category.

Many reserved-category candidates (for example 9,007 OBC and 4,466 EWS) also qualified at the UR cut-off and are listed separately. These are 2025 numbers, and the 2026 cut-off will be different.

Tier 2 qualifying standards

You must qualify every section of Tier 2. Merit is built only from Sections I and II, but Section III (the Computer Knowledge Test) and Section IV (the skill or typing test) must also be cleared. These are the standards SSC applied in CHSL 2025:

Sections I & II

The minimum is 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS and 20% for all other categories, as set out in the notice.

Section III · CKT

Out of 45 marks, the cut-off was 13.5 for UR, 11.25 for OBC/EWS and 9 for all other categories.

Typing test (LDC/JSA/JPA)

UR candidates were allowed up to 7% mistakes and all other categories up to 10%.

Skill test (DEO Grade ‘A’)

UR candidates were allowed up to 5% mistakes and all other categories up to 7%.

Final selection

How the final cut-off works

SSC doesn’t publish one overall final cut-off. For every post code and category, the final result gives the last selected candidate’s Tier 2 total (Section I + II, out of 360), along with their Section I marks and Tier 1 marks. Merit comes from Tier 2 Sections I and II only. Tier 1 marks are used only to break ties. The CHSL 2025 final result (7 Oct 2026) selected 3,515 candidates against 3,522 vacancies.

Some CHSL 2025 examples, showing the last selected UR candidate’s Tier 2 total out of 360: L02 – LDC/JSA, Intelligence Bureau: 298. L31 – LDC/JSA, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs: 298. L16 – LDC/JSA, Border Roads Organisation (open only to male candidates): 293. D55 – DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’, Controller General of Accounts: 317. Because posts are filled by merit and your preference order, look up your own post and category in the result PDF on ssc.gov.in.

FAQ

Cut-off questions, answered

The Tier 1 cut-off comes out with the Tier 1 result, and the post-wise final cut-off comes with the final result, both on ssc.gov.in. CHSL 2026 Tier 1 is proposed for 30 November to 31 December 2026, so no 2026 cut-off exists yet. For comparison, the CHSL 2025 Tier 1 result was declared on 27 February 2026 and the final result on 7 October 2026.
No. Tier 1 only decides who goes on to Tier 2. The final merit list uses Tier 2 Sections I and II (360 marks). Tier 1 marks matter only if two candidates tie: SSC first compares Tier 2 Section I marks, then Tier 1 marks, and then date of birth, with the older candidate placed higher.
For LDC/JSA/Clerk-cum-Typist (normalized, out of 200), the cut-offs were UR 144.26, OBC 143.83, EWS 141.42, SC 125.40 and ST 115.25 (SSC result, 27 Feb 2026). DEO posts had separate, higher cut-offs: UR was 169.54 for DEO posts in the Para 8.1 departments and 165.27 for other DEO posts.
The notice allows separate category-wise cut-offs for three post groups: DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ in the departments named at Para 8.1, other DEO / DEO Grade ‘A’ posts, and LDC/JSA. Each group has its own vacancies and candidate pool, so each closes at a different mark.
Tier 1 has one overall cut-off for each post group, not one per section. In Tier 2 you must qualify Sections I, II and III separately (UR 30%, OBC/EWS 25%, others 20%) and also pass the skill or typing test. In CHSL 2025, the Computer Knowledge Test cut-off was 13.5 out of 45 for UR.
Yes. SSC lists the last selected candidate’s marks for each post code and category. In CHSL 2025, the last selected UR candidate scored 298/360 for L02 (LDC/JSA, Intelligence Bureau) and 317/360 for D55 (DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’, Controller General of Accounts).
