FAQ

Syllabus questions, answered

Mostly. Tier 2 Maths adds statistics (mean, median, mode, standard deviation) and simple probability, and Tier 2 English uses two or more comprehension passages. Tier 2 also adds a qualifying Computer Knowledge Test and a qualifying typing or skill test.
Four — English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. Each has 25 questions worth 50 marks, for 200 marks in 60 minutes, with 15 minutes per part.
Tier 1 deducts 0.50 marks per wrong answer. Tier 2 deducts 1 mark per wrong answer in Sections I, II and III. The typing / skill test has no multiple-choice questions — it is judged on speed and accuracy.
Yes — it is Section IV of Tier 2 and is qualifying. LDC / JSA candidates type at 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi for 10 minutes. DEO candidates take a 15-minute skill test at 8,000 key depressions per hour, or 15,000 for DEO posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, the SSC and the Ministry of Culture.
SSC sets questions in English, Hindi and the 13 other languages listed in the notice — except the English sections, which are in English only. Inside JobSafal the full CHSL syllabus, notes, PYQs and mocks are in both English and Hindi.
The topic lists in the 2026 notice are the same as in the CHSL 2025 notice. What is new in 2026 is sectional timing — 15 minutes per part in Tier 1 and fixed time splits inside Tier 2 Sections I and II. Always cross-check against the official notice on ssc.gov.in.
