SSC CHSL Exam Analysis 2026 · shift-wise review

Once CHSL 2026 Tier 1 begins (proposed 30 Nov – 31 Dec 2026), this page will review each shift — how tough each section was, what topics appeared and what it suggests for the cut-off. Until then, here’s the official paper pattern and last cycle’s results.

Overview

SSC CHSL exam analysis

Exam analysis is the post-shift review of the actual Tier 1 paper — section-wise difficulty, the topics that showed up, and what that suggests about the cut-off. CHSL 2026 Tier 1 hasn’t started yet, so there is no shift data to report; we will add difficulty and attempt figures only after real shifts are held.

CHSL 2025 Tier 1 — the official outcome

We don’t publish “good attempt” estimates before an exam is held. What we can show is last cycle’s official result: CHSL 2025 Tier 1 ran from 12 to 30 November 2025 in multiple shifts, and SSC declared the result on 27 February 2026 using normalized marks. LDC/JSA cut-offs:

CategoryLDC/JSA cut-off, CHSL 2025 (out of 200)
UR144.26
OBC143.83
EWS141.42
SC125.40
ST115.25

Source: SSC Tier 1 result write-up dated 27.02.2026; 37,520 candidates were shortlisted for Tier 2 in the LDC/JSA list. DEO posts had separate, higher cut-offs (UR 169.54 for DEO in the Science-stream departments, 165.27 for other DEO posts).

Normalization & the cut-off

Because Tier 1 runs in many shifts, SSC normalizes the marks (para 13.2 of the notification, using its method notified on 2 June 2025), and the normalized scores decide the cut-offs. So a tougher shift doesn’t simply mean a lower final score. Tier 1 only shortlists candidates: minimum qualifying marks are 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS and 20% for others, and the final merit comes from Tier 2 alone.

FAQ

Analysis questions, answered

It’s the post-shift review of the actual Tier 1 paper — section-wise difficulty, topics asked, and what it implies for the cut-off. It helps you gauge your standing before the result.
After each Tier 1 shift. SSC has proposed Tier 1 for 30 November – 31 December 2026 (notice dated 1 Oct 2026); we’ll update this page shift by shift once the exam begins.
It depends on how tough each shift is, so we’ll only give figures once real 2026 shifts have been analysed. Keep in mind that every wrong answer costs 0.50 marks, so accuracy matters as much as the number of attempts.
SSC normalizes the marks of multi-shift exams (para 13.2 of the notification), and cut-offs are set on the normalized scores, so no shift is unfairly advantaged.
For LDC/JSA, out of 200 (normalized): UR 144.26, OBC 143.83, EWS 141.42, SC 125.40 and ST 115.25. DEO posts had separate, higher cut-offs.
